ABOUT
Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga as exercise popularised by K. Pattabhi Jois during the twentieth century, often promoted as a dynamic form of classical Indian (hatha) yoga. it was taught to Guruji Jois by his teacher Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. The style is energetic, synchronising breath with movements. The individual poses (asanas) are linked by flowing movements (vinyasas). Traditionally, ashtanga vinyasa yoga students memorised a sequence and practised it together without being led by a teacher. Teacher-led classes were introduced in K. Pattabhi Jois's later years. Classes are typically taught twice per week in place of Mysore style classes. Teachers guide the practice, adjusting and assisting with postures and leading the group of students through a series of postures all at the same time. Sequences and series[edit] Eka Pada Galavasana, flying pigeon pose. Ashtanga's advanced Series An ashtanga vinyasa practice of asanas typically begins with five repetitions of surya namaskara A and B respectively, followed by a standing sequence. The practitioner then progresses through one of six series of postures, followed by a standard closing sequence. The six series are: The primary series: Yoga chikitsa, yoga for health or yoga therapy The intermediate series: Nadishodhana, the nerve purifier (also called the "second series") The Advanced series: Sthira bhaga, centering of strength Advanced A, or third series Advanced B, or fourth series Advanced C, or fifth series Advanced D, or sixth series We facilitate the time and space for the practice
99% Practice & 1% Theory
The Ashtanga yoga sequence is based on “vinyasa” – breath movement synchronisation. This warms the body, resulting in sweat, the removal of toxins and the purification of the body, mind and nervous system. Practitioners develop strength, flexibility, stamina and an overall sense of wellbeing.
Postures are taught sequentially allowing students to develop at a pace that is suitable to each individual. This makes it ideal for those new to yoga or those with specific physical/health conditions.
Ashtanga Yoga is powerful tool for self-transformation. It is suitable for all ages, body types and fitness levels. All that is needed is an open mind and enthusiasm to learn. The greatest benefits come with regular practice.

About Mysore Style By Joy McLeod
In Mysore style, students learn the fixed order of asanas combining movement with free breathing, with sound. Through vinyasa, there is continuity via the breath from one asana to the next, so that each asana builds from the previous one.
Each student is given a yoga routine according to their ability. Newer and beginner students tend to have a much shorter practice than do those with more experience. As one gains more strength, stamina, flexibility and concentration, additional asanas are given to the student. The sense of the word “given” in this context comes from how the practice is taught in India, where a yoga practice is something that a teacher gives to a student as a spiritual practice.
Where ever my travels may lead, paradise is where I am.
